Coda and its consultants were tasked with turning a former beauty salon into a remodeled shell building capable of housing a restaurant and a retail tenant. The existing building shell underwent several simple looking but complicated exterior modifications including new storefronts, extended roofs and parapets, and new rooftop equipment and electrical infrastructure. Coda worked with the client to determine the structural, mechanical, plumbing and electrical requirements for the future tenants. More specifically, Coda and its structural engineer (PK Delp) worked diligently to come up with economic solutions to reconfiguring existing shear walls and extending existing roofs and parapets. Coda also developed a plan to demise the building through a large existing skylight and helped develop the exterior color and material palette compatible with both tenants exterior standards as well as signage locations and size.
